Thought for the day...

I'm a bit contemplative this morning so I thought I'd blog about it. AANNNDD I'll be adding a picture of one of my drawings to every post so here is today's picture:

This one was drawn to the music of a folk band at an outdoor concert downtown at Rosa Parks Circle.

The thought for the day is FOLLOW THROUGH. I'm understanding more about my personality and propensity (oooooh - big word!) and, for some reason, I tend to gravitate toward developing new and exciting ideas but once the attraction of beginning something new is gone, I fizzle and lose my momentum and the project gets put on the shelf. Then I look for something else new to get excited about.

Although having new ideas is a good thing, this pattern is not a good thing. It may be cool to have something to be excited about but I'm realizing that this way of living does not bear much fruit - financially and other ways too. Somehow I have to put on some proverbial blinders to block out the proverbial shiny things that catch my eye and stay focused on what's in front of me! I think the beginning of making that work is becoming more aware that this is how my head works. The next step is turning away from this way of thinking by talking to myself about it on a regular basis. Yes, I talk to myself - but mostly in my head. I learned early on that talking to myself out loud makes others move to the sidewalk on the other side of the street :)

So, it's time to change. It's time to follow through with what is at hand BEFORE it becomes one more thing on the shelf. AANNDD it's time to do something with all of the things that have been shelved!!! Hence, the Home School Building craft show on November 21 :) I'll be gathering my shelf contents into neat little boxes and selling them for $5 each! And in the meantime, I'll be continuing what I've started - which means musical drawings, recycling sweaters and baskets into usable home decor and painting pretty little pictures on nail files!!

First Post, New Drawing!

Here is Sunday's drawing...

It's called "Draw the line" which could mean a few different things. I'm thinking of the idea of drawing the line in the sand. Sometimes we need to draw the line and acknowledge that 'it' stops here and now - whatever the negative 'it' may be. Or, maybe 'it' starts here - whatever the positive 'it' is!

Whichever it may be, there are going to be times in life when a change needs to happen. We need to be willing to do the work to make it happen.
